after going down at christmas we are finally back up – as is the forum – we have had an extremely busy (and cold) winter, which seems to be fading into a distant memory as the sun is now shining!   it wont be long before the sanktuary marquee will be seen again in the car park!  during the winter we recieved extra funding from west mercia police fund and from telford and wrekin.  thanks to both.

Wrap up warm tonight… it’s going to be cold!  On the upside sank•tuary will be serving soup and toast as well as mince pies and the usual chocolate biscuits!

Thanks to Telford and Wrekin & Emma and Denice – the Night Time Economy Officers we have now got a stock of 500 (Yes, Five Hundred!) pairs of Flip Flops to give out… so if you are wearing the kind of heels you need a step ladder to get into, worry not – we can help at the end of the night when they may not seem as stable as they did when you left home several hours and several drinks earlier!

well, christmas is almost upon us! so just to let you know sank•tuary will be up and running on friday the 18th, christmas eve and new years eve. we’re here to help where we can, to be a safe, dry, warm and friendly place to wait, to chill and if need be to seek sanctuary! we’ll be playing a mix of christmas chilled tunes and serving up the usual mix of cakes, toast and drinks. thanks to telford & wrekin, the police, the staff of pussycats nightclub and to wellington methodist church.

Sanktuary has gone all open air! We have a small marquee to use as a base during the summer – we can’t be missed look for the lights!

If anyone feels like donating ladies Flip Flops for us to give out on Saturday nights – to help reduce the number of foot/ankle injuries… we would be most grateful… they are currently £1 a pair at Tescos but any kind will do!  Let me know and I’ll tell you where to send them.

you may have heard on the local radio stations we have been getting quite a bit of coverage over the last couple of days.  I’ve done a couple of interviews for Beacon and Radio Shropshire – many thanks to Jim Hawkins on Radio Shropshire who has just been talking about sanktuary – calling it a “hats off to humanity” story, saying that in the deluge of bad news stories like swine flu that it is great to hear good news stories about people putting themselves out to help their fellow humans… hw also noted that he had heard two stories like it recently (the other about people giving furniture to a family of refugees) and both where organised by Christians!
